Chukudum

Some photos of my trip to the town of Chukudum last week. It's built up in the hills so the weather is a bit cooler and the landscape is completely different- it's a beautiful place. The road there is terrible so it's been quite isolated for years.
The goats on top of the bus made me laugh... And again on the way back we got stuck in the worst rains ever. (this is when our car broke down in the middle of crossing a river) It took us 11 hours to go less than 100 km! I thought we would have to sleep in the car.

'Nakai',

I wish you provided more account and photos of your visit to Chukudum town. Although not all those pictures are of Chukudum, it was rather very nostalgic to read about your brief experience in Chukudum. The place is stunningly beautiful eh but if you were to go further up the mountains, you would have ran out of breath. It's simply gorgeous and got some scenery reminiscent to that of your Grand Canyon (sorry if you’re not American but you sound like one) only the Didinga Hills/Mountains are densely vegetated and cooler. You would be better of considering your next ‘rest and relax’ break up the Didinga Hills/Mountains.

Please share more. I like your comic writing!

You are right that some of the photos are not Chukudum, but were taken on the journey there stopping at Camp 15 and stuck on the road. It is stunningly beautiful and I have always talked about hiking in the hills of Eastern Equatoria. Next vacation I will return to Sudan to make that long talked about trek.

Since I have a friend who's in Chukudum now it was nice to find your blog and pics and see what the area looks like. I want to find a map and see exactly where it is.
